Tackles league table

We're currently bottom of the tackles league table, 32 fewer than Quins in 13th and 528 fewer than Huddersfield (in second but played 7 games, not 8 like Wigan) who have made exactly the same number of errors as us.

I suppose as top-scoring side in SL, we've received our fair share of ball from kick-offs, but it does seem very strange. Ideas anyone?

I gave up trusting those OPTA stats a long time ago. I wasn't convinced by their checking of the stats they publish for non-televised games.

I think in all of our games so far this season we've had a majority of the posession and for that reason, spent less time defending than other teams. That's probably all this stat reflects.

We've also – I think – scored more points than anyone else and were the first team to clock up 100 points this season. Which seems to tie in with fewer tackles, as far as a I can see.

Aye. We're pretty high up in terms of carries and metres too which is further supportive evidence.

I was wondering according to the OPTA stats what exactly counts as an assist?

I remember looking a few games in expecting to see Sherwin near the top of the assists table but he had only been credited with 3 or something.

Yep, three try assists despite getting four in the Wigan match alone.

FWIW
Me and my son were looking at this on Saturday (Cas were 3rd from bottom then). I pointed it out to him and he said ''that's good it means we have the ball more''
Proves he knows a lot more about rugby than me. He is 9 BTW.

I get really confused on the metres made, as I've never seen a person on the pitch with a tape measure, measuring the distance gained on each carry.

If its rule of thumb per carry of 5mtrs for a prop, then surely Micheal (timber) Korkidas was - (minus) when he played for us?
