Heard a rumour today that Huddersfield are considering "merging" with Fax, with the purchase of the Shay being in the mix. Coincidentally I mentioned Huddersfield's huge debts on another thread so I assume they know they can't continue bleeding money.
Maybe playing as "Huddersfield" at the Shay? Daft indeed, but we're talking about Rugby League here. I don't know how it would work. There's some very well connected folk on here, so it'll be interesting if they've heard anything or this rumour is indeed just a rumour.

Not heard anything from Fax but on theme Kirklees Council are wanting shut of the ground as they have reportable loaned out millions to the clubs which they are apparently willing write off and it requires a further 10 million spending on back dated maintenance work.
The ground can only be sold to either both Town and Giants or either one of them subject to negotiations which Ken Davy and Town owner Kevin Nagle have been lately taking part in with Nagle particularly keen.
If true they could be looking for a new ground and with CMBC’s commitment for the Shay to be used by FCT and Fax maybe Davy would by both the Panthers and the stadium.
Alternatively it could be all closer to Hudds assessment of the situation.

So it's eyes peeled for Davy at the Shay today - anyone know what he looks like? He must wonder why the hell he's bothering with Huddersfield - 20 million quid down the line and they're getting thrashed 60 - 10 at small club Salford, with their sub 100 away following banging their empty bean cans.

Not heard anything. Last I heard on the ground situation was that both Fax and Town were exploring their options away from the Shay. With both teams losing money hand over fist its hard to see how either can justify carrying on at the ground us especially.

I’ve said it before, The Shay is simply too big for us and could potentially be a mill-stone round our neck if we do buy it. The fact town is looking elsewhere tells you all you need to know. I think a sensible option would be to move to King Cross Park, Siddal or Halifax Rugby Union. All have decent facilities for hospitality.

In an ideal situation any of those 3 would be good options but none of those clubs would get in to bed with Fax. The reality is that at the moment we bring nothing to the table other than the ability to not pay our bills where ever we play/train. Clubs are going to be sceptical with the saga over the Shay rent and also the ladies getting booted from OSCA as well. I can see the council going down the route of selling the Shay and putting a small amount of the proceeds in to the funding of a tiny stadium for both teams. Town are going nowhere fast and we are a million miles from ever needing a stadium with more than 3k capacity so I can see that making sense for the council.

I thought something had been signed /agreed that the shay had to be used has a sporting venue.
Like has been said the shay is too big and the only thing that was rumoured was turning the skircoat stand into a hotel /casino to bring in constant revenue.
The only way it works is by the shay being more than a sporting venue but that would require third party investment like a Marshall’s or a hotel group etc .
