For those of you of a certain age you might remember Dan the tough running Aussie forward who played for us in the late 80’s. Saw this story in the local news and thought you might be interested. I didn’t realise he went on to play Origin after his stint at Fax

Interesting read, we mainly only get to see the onfield stuff and a little bit of the off field things. I don't have many memories of Dan playing for us other than just thinking what a scary bloke he appeared to be back then. Very tough player and was somebody you just knew not to mess with. I guess he reminds me a bit of Brent Stuart and in similar fashion he was another who went on to get honors, NZ I think it were for Brent, after a short time of playing for us which isn't really something you see nowadways.

I seem to remember we signed him from Keighley part way through the season and he slotted in at second row. I remember thinking him as very tough and workmanlike if not blockbusting like Robbo. Surprising how much weight he has lost when you see the pics in the article, but it also looks like he’s super fit

Yeah compared to back in his playing days. He looks in great shape though as you say.

I remember Stains, but didn't he only play a handful of games for Fax under John Dorahy?

I wonder if he still has that leather trench coat?

Dan Stains came straigh from Oz.

Perhaps you may be thinking of Kenny Isaacs who signed from Keighley and played about a dozen games from us . Lanky who played above his weight with if i remember correctly straggly red hair.

Wasn't Stains one of Strudwick's signings?
