Highly delighted with the appointment and was the obvious choice from day one. I didn't think it would be announced so early but I guess with recruitment it was going to come out at some point so may as well get it done and they can get cracked on ready for next season.

It’s better the Club announce it now than some Hack leaking it out and I’m sure it has also been agreed with Dewsbury. Looking forward to seeing him take the club forward
It should clear any distractions of the who is it question from the players, the rest of the clubs staff and fan base so they can focus on the run into the end of the season.

I’m more interested in what the off field progress durgan mentions in his interviews , without extra funds and further investment and attention into other areas I see the appointment as a more sideways step , regardless of what some fans think of our previous tenure Finn will do well to better it , and if he doesn’t it won’t take long for Greg florimo and his moaning old boots to start kicking off .

Very pleased and I'm sure Liam will breathe some fresh air into the team with new ideas, etc.
One thing I have noticed, however, is that he says "obviously" a lot in his interview. He needs to cut that out for a start, but I suppose it's better than saying "yer know" all the time.

Like Listenup94 says it's probably a sideways move. Whilst i think Liam will be a very good coach i would personally have preferred a split from any ex Halifax links. The one major problem for me is the talk from the club of having a 'good championship squad' next season. Does that mean we aren't aiming to win this season's Grand Final?

Expected but happy with the confirmation. As has been said glad the club has come out early with this, probably made possible as Dewsbury have already clinched promotion. I would guess its been known for a time so would hope he's had some input into some of the signings already made. Good that it's a 3 year deal , the club do seem to be getting better at bringing continuity to the playing and coaching staff - used to be the norm that all players only got one year. Does add a bit more pressure though to make sure the signings are solid - last season apart from Springer it was generally excellent - this year until the end of season additions, a bit of a disaster.

My thoughts exactly, it’s a difficult one , having seen what leigh have done it shows how much money has to be pumped in to make that transition to superleague but you have to have some kind of ambition, this is what intrigues me about the statement durgan made at the end of his interview regarding off field improvements. Tbh I don’t think any of the current championship clubs are ready for superleague yet .

I totally agree about any clubs being ready SL. The problem we have though is any perceived lack of ambition, magnified by our club signing up to the IMG tripe, will have a disastrous effect on our already poor attendance figures. I really hope i'm wrong about that. Up The Fax!
