Was anyone else underwhelmed by the international on Saturday. Especially the crowd. Many people talk about how fantastic this sport is (and it is) but this was our National team playing and the supporters of Rugby League couldn’t fill a 15k stadium. Behind one set of posts wasn’t even open. The England women’s Rugby Union game attracted over 58k to that game.

We are a minority sport in this part of the world. Unfortunatley the people running the game have not done a good job for decades.

We’ve been spreading the butter too thin for a while , so now we have dry toast . I was looking at where the players come from who made up the Great Britain sides of the 90s and the England sides of the last few years , still the same places but unfortunately the rfl will relentlessly carry on making the same mistakes.

I got no pleasure what so ever from watching both the women's and men's games on Saturday. I like to watch a contest and those games were far from that. As for being 3rd class we are probably not even that one of the many problems this sport as is the clubs in this country and in the NRL put club rugby before international rugby which for me should be the pinnacle of any sport.

It is a simple game. But tactics at amateur, semi-pro and pro are worlds apart. They almost feel like different sports.

Look at Maher, for example. Totally impotent at semi-pro level, but useful at pro level for following systems and protocol.

Your destiny in the sport is rigid and limited.
There are no Roy of the rovers fairy tales.

If you're not academy trained, success is rare.

A maverick genius is likely to lose games than win percentage wise.
Overload of passion and spirit results in penalties against rather than winnable positions.

Where results are carved out through quicker play the balls where victory is obtained through exhausting your opponent rather than actually playing Rugby League to beat your opponents
