I have just seen that the central funding for the 2023 season depends on where the club finishes in the play offs i.e. York would receive 3rd place money if they beat us on Sunday. Very surprising this but it has come from the club itself and makes the weekends game even more important. We as fans need to play our part and cheer the lads on to victory. Up The Fax! :thumb:

That’s strange. I would have thought it was league positions. The league positions shows what a team and club have achieved over the period of the season. It on a one game knock out football. That means that means it doesn’t matter where you finish as long as you finish 3rd to 6th you can potentially get more money than your league standing. 1st and 2nd and could lose money by being knocked out in their semifinal game. Very bizarre.

I imagine it would more work that if York beat us they would end up with money for finishing 4th and we would get money for 5th rather than York leapfrogging over Barrow and batley.

I can't weigh it up. Igot the information from Fax's Facebook Post urging everyone in Halifax and District to get down The Shay and back the lads on Sunday.

It's a bit like 2010 when Fev had Chapions printed on their shirts, only have it pointed out that the winners of the play-off were the Chapions, they were the League Leadersn not the Champions

Central funding is about league positions. If your 7th in the league you will get a proportion of the funding for finishing 7th in the league. If your 3rd in the league and lose your play off game you won’t get the funding for finishing 3rd you’ll get what ever the RFL have decided.
If that is how it works then the two teams who lose on Sunday should play another game to see who is going to be at the bottom of the play off ladder and therefore get less money. Indeed the two losers of the semi file should play each other to see what their finishing position is.
It doesn’t make sense.

So as Steve Lambert explains if we lose this game York will be classed a finishing 3rd even thought they finished 6th. So what position will we be given. Madness!
And also (I know we know this ) the clubs get nothing from the TV broadcast. The RFL get the money from Premier sports for the deal they struck to cover the Championship yet the clubs get feck all. It’s no wonder clubs outside SL struggle financially when they see no extra money for all the efforts. Come on Fax let’s have a win this Sunday (and the following Sunday)
