Seems they are untrained and just told to stand still with no clue on what to do should a situation arise.

Witnessed a small incident yesterday in the second half where a panthers fan had come from the under the stand near to the haven end as we scored. He celebrated and a coin was thrown which bounced off the side just missing him then a bottle hit him on the back. He ri responded by mothing at a few haven lads who were clearly responsible the female steward looked on. He pointed out the items which she picked up and made him walk away. Not long after that the 2 sia licensed lads went up to speak to him not fully sure what was said. I asked and apparently they said they saw him chuck chips back and aggravated the situation which was not the case. Maybe not fully innocent in the reaction but no objects were thrown and he had a full pint in his hand definitely not chips. Seems they did not want to speak to the group who launched the coin and bottle so went to speak to the easier target.

Training is needed as that is not how home fans should be treated and will put people off attending if issues like this are happening.

I think a few of our home fans put people off attending as it is. Its a shame but I know a number of people that have moved to the East stand to get away from the torrent of abuse that is shouted at every game.

Has this incident been reported to the club. If not it needs to be. We don’t want to end up like some other clubs supporters.

Who are the stewards employed by and working for on match days, is it Calderfail Council or the rugby club?
It’s very relevant regarding training and being competent to do the job and current employment law.

The Halifax supporter was not at fault in this case. The issue was the stewards failing to react to a coin and bottle chucked at him. The bottle landed next to the female stewards foot she picked it up and passed it to be put in a bin with no response going to see the group of haven fans who threw the objects. Instead spoke to the fax supporter for throwing objects when he had not thrown any item. Just responded vocaly which i think most people would of.

The stewarding at The Shay is worse than useless for both Fax and Town.

I think you misunderstood my post. Irrelevant of who is at fault it needs to be reported to the club so they can Officially record it, notify Whitehaven club and speak to the stewarding company/ council or whoever employs them.

Also if its reported it will be able to be checked on the CCTV to see what actually happened.

As far as i am aware the stewards are employed by a private security firm. I know the man who does this you can sometimes see him at matches going around talking to the stewards.
