New 3 year deal, backed to the hilt with the signings and his coaching assistants...now needs to deliver.
My nagging doubt moving forward is the pack still, yes we now have threat all over the park and a glut of forwards
who will need to bring their A game to get a shirt. The question is,do we have enough forwards, even on their best form, who will be at the level needed ?

Same here as I mentioned in another post giving them, whoever plays all a similar score of 7/8.
Question is can any of them step up to an 8+/9+ or can we still add anyone of that calibration at this level.
On the other hand we scored some cracking tries from distance last season but often lost the plot in the opposition 20 despite of having a boatload of possession.
I’m hoping this time round with the extra speed and guile at 6,7 and 9 that will change which should rack up the points, reduce the time and energy spent on defence giving the pack more chance to get on top, the whole being better than the part type effect.

Then again it could all be a load of ballcocks.

Aye, we could do with a Mitch Cahlane type of prop but there again which club couldn't. Even SL clubs are struggling in that department but there won't be many, if any Championship clubs as well off for forwards as Fax. Over to you now Simon and your staff. Up The Fax! :thumb:

I see this as a big gamble by the club. My understanding was that is contract was up at the end of next season i would of preferred the club to wait and see how next season pans out before offering a new deal. If things go well the club have made a very good call but if they don't we will have a coach on a 3 year deal who we wont be able to pay off and will be in a poor position to do anything about it. There is big pressure on simon and the players from the word go next season i hope they can deliver. As for the coaching appointments welcome liam and scott to your new roles.

It works both ways - if things go well then we don't risk losing him to another club or have to pay more to retain him - meaning more certainty for the cub re costs. Plus on a more personal level for SG, he is entitled to seek more certainty and protection and have confidence in his employers.

We need stability. SG has proved very capable the season just gone. We would off taken 3rd place before the season started. We lacked strength in depth and this has been addressed.
Would of liked a Sam Barlow type player with a offload but happy with the players signed. Look to have added quality in key pivot positions . Looking forward to seeing Joe Keyes.

I too would love a Sam Barlow type. Not just the offload and deceptive footwork but remembering the way he scuttled the Fev defence at Blackpool etc.Problem is these type of forwards seem too difficult to coach at this level.
