All down to consistency and performance Robin and you know as well as I do what Gadwin can bring to a side both the good and not so good. When he’s on his game and up for it he’s devastating, when he’s not on his game and not up for it he’s frustrating as seen at several of his last clubs. With Fax and SG It came to a head when he was left out against Whitehaven and he didn’t like it. Fev could be the perfect club to get the best out of him and really add something to an already strong pack. I personally am sad to see him go as apart from Tangata we have no one else with his sort of impact. All the best Gadwin. |

Stupid decision. Not seen anything myself of his supposed down side, except maybe the odd daft offload which I’d rather see than the boring 5 metre drives that all our other forwards,Tangata excepted, are capable off. |

The report says he didn’t like being left out. No player does but that’s part of being in a squad. If it’s a ‘I’m don’t like being left out, I should play’ then good bye to him. That’s not a squad/ team attitude. You have to accept what the coach decides. Even if it is hard for the individual player. He is a great player but if he’s not a full squad/team/club player then we have let him go. It may also be that the club have let him go with other people in mind who they want. |

This reminds me of Sam Barlow - if either one of them had worked as hard as a Fairbank then they'd have been playing top end Superleague with their skills and physical attributes. At our level we're going to get either solid workhorses or players who can turn a game but will make mistakes - I'm sure Gadwin and Barlow both frustrated coaches no end - but I'm sure most fans would forgive them their flaws for the excitement they brought to the team. As with Barlow you can almost guarantee that when he plays against us he'll be man of the match. |

Grix like all coaches has his favourites, players who can't be dropped no matter how they play. From very early on it was clear that he had a problem with Springer who seemed to be the fall guy a number of times when other players had performed worse. If anything the Haven game should have highlighted that we were crying out for a player like that and to get rid of a player when we are already short of numbers and to a division rival seems a bit daft. Fev will be laughing if this move works out, probably won't cost them much as we will likely have contributed and it weakens a squad that could potentially challenge them for SL. |

You could make the argument though that if Springer is seen to be getting away with it on standards, based on the view that he may or may not bring more in terms of attack then that can also filter into the playing group. My view is that he wasn't fit enough - I don't think he ever played that 40 mins total per game. A player like that can blind you a little bit as you are so focused on what he can do with the ball i.e busting the line, getting the offload away that you won't always see what he's doing off the ball and what he brings in defence. It's clear Grix had set standards that he wasn't meeting personally and the coach lives and dies by the standards that players set for themselves, set by the coaching staff and their teammates. If he wasn't seen to be accountable and it was obvious to the rest of the team, then you set yourself up for a difficult situation - tackle buster or not. |
