That potential banana skin mentioned before the game nearly came to haunt us.. Whitehaven are a strong and big side. We did not seem to create the space to show our attacking side today but certainly our defence did not let us down and other than 2 penalties they did not cross our line. We needed that score in the last minute of the first half but it took a Matt Garside try 10 minutes before time to seal our win. Matt took the MOM award with Ben Kavanagh taking the Hitman probably from the shuddering tackle which stopped the player in their tracks.
With a weekend off next Sunday due to Wembley final it gives us a break to recharge ready for Sheffield on Sunday 25th July. This game will be played at the Mobile Rocket Stadium, Wakefield. (Bell Vue) with a 12.30 Ko. We are running a supporters coach to the game. We leave at 10.45. Adults £12, juniors £10. To book phone me.
In Club 1873 2 further draws were made and the winners are £25 vouchers number 114, Julie Payne and number 105 Paul Haggerty. The £20 vouchers went to number 101, Linda Haggerty and 55 Darren Leach. The next draw will be made at the Bradford game on 1st August.
