Saw an interview with Ian Croad. He said big plans afoot - would be like marmite to some. It’s happening isn’t it? Fax Panthers. I don’t like marmite.. |

Neither do I, I loved it when we went back to Halifax RLFC but.. I've sat in the East Stand watching the South Stand getting more and more barren over the last few seasons. The fact that we failed the criteria for SL at the very 1st hurdle due to attendance levels, they would have found summat else I know, is shocking for a club of Fax's stature. If we are to have the rumoured nickname it is as good as owt and at least it would be very marketable, unlike a blumming sock! I'm all for tradition but accept the need for change, especially if it's going to get youngsters involved with the club again. All this is of course no good without having a good competitive team on the pitch and looking at the team we've assembled this could be a very exciting season ahead and just the right time for the start if a new, hopefully successful, era for us. Whatever is ahead let's hope more blue and whites, old and new, get down The Shay and back the club to where I believe we should be. Up The Fax! |

A new nickname won't attract one extra supporter but it may lose a few. Winning teams and meaningful competition brings extra support. |

The club has gone nowhere for years with its insular attitude of we used to be a big club and used to have a really good team. We used to have better crowds watching Brendan Hill on a reserves night at Thrum Hall . We need to do things differently and if it's a marketing ploy name change that keeps us viable then so be it. Arcadia sat still as the world changed dinosaurs come to mind . |
