Part Quote: I'm just getting more and more disillusioned with the game as a whole. There's hardly a week goes by without summat else daft rearing it's ugly head. Aye, I'm not happy with what's going on at Fax but we've a wedding in Mexico in't Summer so we'll pick and chose matches to go to and hopefully the game in general comes to it's senses before it's too late.
Touched on before by Bentleyman and others Hudds the game will see some big changes, the Champ and Champ 1 clubs met just a couple of weeks back to start preliminary discussions.
See also for example this article that begins with. "This is not just the start of a new season - we're at the beginning of a two-year period that will define the whole future of rugby league."

My understanding is that average attendance at the top level in Rugby league over the last five years have increased by almost 70% on the equivalent 2000-2005 ignoring playoffs, The only clubs that existed then where this is not the case are Huddersfield and Salford.
Comparable figures for the levels below are probably irrelevant due to restructuring and the financial implosions of the Bulls and to a degree Fax, Workington, Leigh & Fev.
Rugby Union, soccer (to a degree), NFL, NRL, Cricket and basketball all around the world appear to follow this model, with an increased drive for “closed” top leagues.
I am now convinced we need to openly prepare and recognise that this will be our future.....albeit it’s been unsaid since we failed to “bounce back” after relegation.

The Champ and Champ 1 clubs agree with you and I mentioned they did meet with this in mind just a couple of weeks back to discuss the way forward options.
Nothing was agreed at the time as it was just at least lets get the ball rolling.
It was quite a big article in one of the rugby league papers and I was going to post and type it out but was away for a few days and by the time I got round to it the wife had thrown it out!!!
No doubt they will be back at it so it's a case of watch this space.
