Post subject:  Saturdays Under 23 game

Our new Under 23 Team plays their first league game ay home against Whitehaven this Saturday Kick off 2.30 (theres a full fixture list elsewhere on here and the Club web site).

After a long meeting with the Stadium management this evening we have reluctantly accepted that this first game cannot be accommodated at the Shay and will now take place at the Old Crossleyans first team pitch Broomfield Avenue instead.

This first game will be FREE to ALL supporters who turn up to give the lads a cheer.

Martin Gonzalez our Coach has spent a good deal of time putting together our squad. What we have found in our friendly games so far is that our team, average age 20/21 is much younger than many and our plan to let these lads represent us rather than packing the team with First teamers (we are allowed 3 over age players) means that the lads are facing often stronger sides but to date have given really good accounts of themselves. I'm sure with the Fax fans shouting them on it will be like having an extra player, , so hope that lots of you might get down there on Saturday to give them a shout.

The Old Crossleyans bar will be open from 1.30 (but not free) should anyone fancy a drink before the game and will be open after the game if you would like to meet some of the team.

This years U 23 team is sponsored by The Fax Builder, part of the Supporters Trust, who are giving excellent support to the lads and who feature as the main shirt sponsors, and Calderdale College who we hope in the fullness of time will provide training facilities for the lads(once the new college is completed)

so see you all Saturday?

Mike Riley

:MOTOR:
Mike, purely out of interest, why have the stadium management refused to let us play on Saturday at the shay?

Good evening Mike.

Both Groundsmen away?

Do I take it that you didn't agree with the decision?

You did say that you had "reluctantly agreed"

Just interested.

Surprised they are letting a league team play there after they chucked Park out to get a RFU grant.

More importantly (to me) is does this ground have any seats and any covered area's (the picture given doesnt suggest so on either count)

I cannot stand for a whole game and the forecast is for showers. I was looking forward to this game, as I cannot make it to France, but it seems that it has been taken away from me :x
