No double header!! According to Courier no go.Worried about damage to pitch. Both Fax and Siddal to lose out financially. Siddal to play at Widnes on the Sunday. Community stadium what a load of b.ll.ks. Could have been a great day out.I will be in Widnes Just hope we really rag up the surface anyway, the puffballers play far to many games on it! |

Fax would get the same crowd whether it was a double header or not, and Widnes get bigger home crowds than Fax, so the decision not to tear up the pitch seems sensible, The Shaymen have a lot of fixtures coming up, this decision is common sense. If it was during the Football off season then i would think differently, possibly. |

Sorry China me old fruit but I don't entirely agree with you there. Yes I do agree it would in theory be a great day out but to simply not consider the damage to the playing surface is a tad silly. 3 games in 2 days is a lot for one pitch in late winter / early spring and the back office issues presented with holding 2 games in one day. Are Widnes fans going to stay, do we charge for 2 games, season ticket holders reserved seat issues etc (this game being part of the season ticket). The club is damned if they do and damned if they don't in this particular scenario and I don't think it fair to play the blame game. It is unfortunate it couldn't be accommodated but the logistics of doing it are just too difficult. Also bear in mind that Fax would be also potentially playing the 3rd and final game of the weekend (Footabll Sat too) so would you be happy if one of our players was injured due to the state of the pitch say with an odd divot popping up or the surface being sticky due to the weather and a previous game of rugby being played just before? I think it is right and I will be at The Shay regardless. |

Tbf Siddall will likely get more cash from a trip to Widnes surely? Though a lot more cup free tickets will be used also. |

I think our chairman normally gives a lump sum of money to the amateur clubs so Siddal may get a bit more than expected. |

Not sure you are allowed to use free tickets or offers for the cups though. Which is often why when two SL clubs meet the attendances are lower than usual. |

Supporters can use their season ticket for their teams first home game of the Challenge Cup competition and then pay at further rounds. Don't know how Widnes stand in the Siddal game, even though it's at the Stobart, it's officially a Siddal home game, so don't know if the season ticket rule will apply. |

Shame for Siddal but not sure they would lose out financially. Maybe the very small chance of Siddal getting near to a shock result is now gone. As for the state of the pitch sod the little diving girls, they ruin the pitch especially around the goalmouth area anyway! ! Do Fax and the town lot get to have any say on extra games/events held at the Shay being main tenants? |
