I am surprised nobody has brought this up yet.
I was gutted yesterday, not because we lost but the way we lost.
A Drop Goal is fair enough and if it had been at the end of the 80 minutes or extra time I would have no complaints.
But after 3 minutes when one team has lost the toss (I presume we did) and has to kick the ball to the other team its a high probability that the team receiving the ball will win.
That is totally naff way of sorting out the best team.
Yer I know it could have been us who had won but I would in all honesty be saying the same. As I said to some Cas fans after the game I hope they don't go through the pain of losing the way we did yesterday.
Surely it should be decided by extra time or a replay?
10 minutes each way extra time would be fairer, then if the teams are still locked and one scores a drop goal then fair enough, at least the opther team had THE CHANCE to win the game.
I would say the golden point will be won by the team who get the ball at the kick off 8 out of 10 times.
thats not a fair way of deciding a game, no way.
RFL why change the rules? Did anyone think this through?
I doubt it, but I do hope that this rule is dropped and they go back to extra time like when Leeds beat Saints in the semi finals a few years ago.

its appears that the RFL had it down as ten mins each way in their rules then golden point yesterday on their site. now rules have been changed today to just golden point.
announcers may have been right for then but not after rule change last night.
was 2008 rules on the site but now 2009 rules.
been around here long time, thought would start posting...........

Fax fans you have every right to feel hard done by.
2 years ago I went to a 2nd round tie between Dudley Hill and Castleford Lock Lane. That game also went to extra time, about 5mins into the 1st period Lock Lane kicked a penalty, but the game continued untill the end of the 2nd period. Had the scores still been level, then golden point would have come into play.
Your game should have carried on after the dropgoal. and I agree it should be decided on a try not a drop goal or a penalty.
I also cant understand why there cant be a replay. In the programme for the final theres always a date advertised for a reply if required, so why not in the other rounds.
Someone yesterday messed up or its another RFL mess up.

If I were still on the board, I'd be demanding an explanation of the c0ck up and going for a replay.
Everybody was livid that they were told it was 10 mins each way and wasn't it just 50 seconds into the extra time, when it was then announced that it would be golden point. Low and behold less than 5 seconds later they welly the ball.
You've got to have a dream, if you don't have a dream, how ya gonna have a dream come true?

Me too. The RFL bunch were sat directly behind us you should have seen the mood change between them when we came back toward the end . Up to then it was just another jolly day out ,at the final whistle they were all looking like slapped mokeys and one of them ran onto the pitch. I do not think our players were fully prepared for the ramifications of loseing the toss (that is if there was one) as an anouncement had been made it was to be 10min each way. I would object most strongley they ought to get their act together it`s time people started to question these rules they keep introducing don`t tell me everyone voted for that too at these RFL away days.Would have been nice to have had a replay at home.
YOU CAN LEARN FROM THE PAST BUT NOT RELIVE IT.YOU CAN HOPE FOR THE FUTURE BUT CAN NEVER BE SURE THERE WILL BE ONE.

I think you deserve one.
remember the tri-nations final a couple of years ago. That went to golden point extra time, but it ended up been a try that won it deep inside the 1st period, which is fair enough. But a dropgoal just over 1 minute into extra time is a poor way to decide the game, especially when it was anounced it would be 10mins eachway. Should be golden try, not golden point.
