I had a favorite but forgot his name!, reffed around the 1988-1995 era around. (Don't have a Rothmans Annual to hand) Never liked Gerry Kershaw, remember the Connolly brothers. Amazing how we all remember past players but not refs (humans try to forget bad experiences!!) |

Brian Galtress was always a favourite of mine, can't remember why though, although it was great having Alan Burke up at Thrum Hall, just to be able to read out "...and the referee today is A Burke!" |

That reminds me of the time someone in the Scratching Shed was blowing a whistle and causing all kinds of problems on the pitch. The PA man at the time (must have been Terry?) announced "Ladies and Gentlemen, may I have your attention. There's an idiot in the ground blowing a whistle" Priceless. |
