In all fairness I think we did ok today. Catalan are a top 3 SL side and will be pushing to be in the GF again this season. They brought plenty of penalties with them which disrupted them. Our ball control and some decision making was way off today. Fairbank was easy MoM. We looked better once Widdop came off the bench
I was impressed with the crowd of over 1800. I thought we would only get 1000. Although Salty got our only try I thought he has poor game. Running out of the defensive line (and not fast enough) and then missing the tackle. Not good and he needs to cut that out and stay on his wing. A lot of the time our defensive line was not line it was just a mess. All of this need sorting before we start on the league again. Over all we did ok
Overall better than I'd expected- better attendance and no apparent injuries which were my 2 main concerns about a game we were never going to win. Was a bit worried after first 10 minutes it was going to be embarrassing, thought the pack stood up really well and stuck in there until the end. They did put some slick backline moves together but this was helped by porous defence on Edens side although not sure it was all his fault. Crooks would definitely have helped the defence and we also missed the accuracy of pass from dummy half that O'brien provides. Overall not too downhearted about the performance and as long as they're not too battered feel quietly confident about Friday's Derby.

Aye, sounds about reight that. Take the first 7 minutes away and the lads did all they could. A lot better crowd and no obvious injuries so all o.k. Victorian Café Bar. Up The Fax!

Attendance wise it looked more than 1800 to me but i would never accuse the club of fiddling the attendance. Game wise i thought our middles did a pretty good job considering the size difference between the 2 sides, but once they attacked our edge defence even if we got our numbering right which we completely got wrong for their first try they ruthlessly exposed us with there pace power and clinical finishing. It goes without saying there was a big gulf between the sides across the park but i was disappointed with some of our outside backs efforts when attempting to make those tackles. Chances was limited for us but for me our spine didn't look connected like i would expect and it looked like we was looking for individual efforts rather than team ones, this as been a issue so far this season not just yesterday, which was not helped by very poor distribution from acting half by Tom ingham, what we can do about this with Obrien out for the next couple of months other than bring someone else in. Thankfully we look to have come through with no injuries but with Fairbank banned for friday there will at least need to be 1 change from yesterday.

Nothing there that I don't agree with - I don't think they'll try and replace O'brien although I think messing about with the spine of the team to accommodate Widdop is a mistake, as it disrupts the team too much. The only replacement I can see for Fairbank is Hursey, especially as Campbell was limping just carrying on the kicking tee on Sunday. If Douglas recovery has altered would be good if the club could provide an update as based on last update from finn that I remember he should have been fit by now - seems pointless just padding out a squad with him each week if he's not fit. Apparently Tee Ritson is likely to be loaned out by Saints, couldn't really justify going for him as wing is one of the few areas we're not short - that said I'd still love to see him here.

Is Hursey injured? He was announced as a permanent signing but with him not even been named in the squad this weekend it looks more and more like some type of loan deal with Leeds especially with Campbell and Douglas both been named with no chance of playing.
