Well it was a win. Terrible first half. Improved 2nd and didn’t allow Batley to score. I never felt comfortable until the final hooter went. Terrible refereeing. Barleys try in the corner looked like a knock on fumble. We won and that matters most at this time when we don’t look like a cohesive team at all.
Not gonna bother giving an in-depth review as it was a similar performance to all our other games . One thing that needs to be looked at is Tom inman who was instrumental in our comeback and was strangely subbed for Moore who isn’t offering anything in attack at the moment. Doro , king and calcott carried well . Some interesting calls to make next week , personally I’d give some young lads like Forster , Oakley and inman a start as we look very unlikely to trouble fev .

Far too many penalties resulting in no good ball or field position especially in the first half.
Couple of vital scores either side of halftime with better go forward after that with Tom Inman playing a big part and looking a real prospect at this level.
With the week we’ve had I was exhausted through nerves by the time the final whistle went and it was a case of the relief from not losing another so soon was greater than the joy of winning.
For some reason struggling to quote but spot on what Listenup said about Tom Inman. We looked so much better with him on the field than we did with Brandon Moore who dropped off so many tackles and really didn't offer much in attack compared to Inman's quick distribution that seemed to get us some good go forward in the second half. The substitution was bizarre.
1st half picked up where we left off against Widnes getting dominated by a team pretty much playing one up rugby. Second half was much improved and we seemed to find a bit of fire from somewhere which was nice to see. Despite us not playing well we have lost 2 games that a lot of teams are also going to lose and I am certain we will get a lot better than what we have shown so far. Get next weeks hammering out of the way and then the season needs to start proper.

Agree with you all about Tom Inman made a major difference when he was on. Not because he is more skilful or bigger than anyone else he played with passion and went in hard and chased the ball. He is a very impressive young man
Thought JWH was different class today - especially in the absence of Keyes he provided nearly all the moments of the real quality and creativity in attack. Thought our kicking in general play was shocking today, repeatedly putting it down the throat of their fullback who more often than not was able to take it under no pressure and then make good yardage. One exception was excellent kick from Inman, who as everyone else has mentioned was a breath of fresh air, with way play speeded up as soon as he came on. Salty had his biannual dodgy game last week - this week he was fantastic in everything he did - as is usual he probably made more metres than our combined forward pack.

Looking at our team for tomorrow I wish we had brought some DR players in as there are some players that will be playing that are not up to the job at the moment and although all this fairytale 17 Halifax born players in the team sounds nice, when I'm paying 20 quid to watch I want to watch the best team that we can possibly put out.
I remember when one Cavill Heugh made his debut at Salford i think. Everyone around me saying what on earth have we signed, he was dreadful. No one can walk into a squad and after two or three sessions be a world beater for that team. DR just provides bodies not matchwinners. I hope to watch the Batley game when it is online as was unable to see it live this week. Seems it was a bum squeaker.
One major concern centred on the halves, what would we do if JK or LJ got injured.
Only one game to base it on but KW and LJ went okay together and the bonus was seeing how well Tom went at 9, not only personally but how much better the team looked during his spell.
Just shows how things that wouldn’t normally happen can work in your favour and end up with a good outcome following on from Monday when just about everything that could go wrong did do.

Personally in the current climate it’s the only thing we have , it seems obvious to me that we’ve failed to add more to our squad because of financial restraints whether that be because of last season’s playoff failure or the uncertainty around IMG , we are where we are and DR is currently are only way of fleshing out our small squad and keeping unselected players match fit by playing in cas reserves. The performance against Widnes was startlingly poor and worried me massively, I’ve also heard unsettling news going on behind the scenes but I wish to remain hopeful that this is just a mix of a new board the confusion of IMG and a terrible performance against Widnes magnifying peoples emotional responses. Whether you want DR or not we are all on the same page that we want fax to be successful both on and off the pitch , let’s hope this last week can soon be forgotten.
Get em onside , forrad pass , the referees a banker and all the rest, come of fax it’s time to come back fighting.
Would you be happy to share the unsettling news you have heard. If not fair enough i would just be interested to know.
As for the game i thought the 2 scores one just before halftime and the other straight after was vital in our comeback yesterday. Put it this way if walmsley doesn't pull off the intercept and Batley score i think we were dead and buried at that point. Overall a game of 2 halfs we scored a well taken try to open the scoring but after that Batley rolled us up and down the pitch at will for most of the first 40 and scoring the usual crash over score that we seem to concede every game. I don't know if it were our fitness that got us through in the end but we did seem to play with greater intensity in the second half were Batleys impact up the middle was not as obvious. Happy to have won a game that looked to be getting away from us but for me the issues we have are still there and do not look like getting fixed anytime soon. While dr seems a hot topic our partners at cas have sacked there coach. I wonder if they will be brave enough to look in the championship for a replacement or go down the tried and tested route. There is some talent that rarely gets a look when it comes to super league.
