Unfortunately its not just losing that's doing for our crowds. The reality of playing for nothing is definately starting to hit home. It really came home to me on Good Friday when we lost to Leigh. In years gone by I would've been frothing at the mouth, absolutely livid that we'd lost. Instead the emotion that I felt could only be described as "mild disappointment". The atmosphere has all but gone from the game.



Look at your guys. Unbeaten and playing some fantastic stuff but you'll be chuffed to get 2,500. The game is dying on its arris at his level.



Even in Super-duper league the bottom end crowds are falling with no relegation threat. 8K at Bradford last night, Wire back down to 7-8k. In their case it probably is cos they're losing, but the lack of the threat of relegation will mean that once teams are out play-off contention the season is over and crowds will reflect this.

Agree with most of that. Nice to know crap teams are not relegated when teams in the Championship could do better-both on and off the field.



I always think that there should be a certain standard to get in and stay in SL. There was no need for franchises and Promotion and relegation should of been kept. But a club should meet certain criteria to enter and stay in SL. If a team wins the Championship Grand Final but is in debt or its stadium is not up to standard then they should stay down and no relegation or the losing Finalist go up.

On the other hand if a SL club is losing money and is poorly run they hould also be relegated even if its not the bottom team. Its not just to do with results on the field. However its my opinion that the RFL have gone too far and the franchise business is ruining the game despite some of the things in the Franchise system being things I agree with-Youth Development, Quality of Stadia, No Debts etc

I also agree with both of you. I was dead against franchising from the start but now it's here we are stuck with it, at least for the time being.



What bothers me is that even if Fax, Widnes, Leigh or anyone else was mega-successful for the next 3 years, winning every Grand Final, every NRC Final and finishing top of the Championship and ticking all the boxes for Development, Financial stability, stadia etc. I firmly believe that the RFL would ignore all this and put Toulouse or some other pipedream expansion club into SL instead.



I hasten to add that I am in no way against expansion but I can see no point in it if it destroys long-established clubs in the process.

My dream would be a breakaway game, stuff the RFL, secure a good TV deal (not Sky Obv.), invite any existing SL clubs to join, have 2 leagues, 3 up, 3 down, if you come top of the league, you WIN the league! No play offs, maybe have a premiership final like 20 years ago, no northern rail cup, but maybe a Regal Trophy knockout, secure good stadia for finals, my dream!

I for one am not too bothered about being over successful over the next 3 years. It's about enjoying the rugby that is on display, wether it be us Widnes or even Too-loose. But to have Dulls or Credit Crunch Crusaders or the Reds in the bottom 3 for the next 3 years ? Well I would go to my "Maker" with a smile on my face.



Knowing I had played my part in their down fall.

I love seeing positive results and reports about Fax. We'd not get half of them if we were bottom to middle of SL, but the rediculous thing is, we could go on to win the CC and we still wouldn't be guaranteed a place in SL in 2 1/2 years time!
