Shows how different perspectives are gained from being on the terraces to watching. At the match I thought Black was ordinary, but he was one of our best players for the first 50 minutes!
Widnes were a 1 man team tonight, without Duffy, they looked lost. Webster showed fleeting glimpses of his fantastic talent, but Widnes oin the whole didn't impress me, no cutting edge to their attack and always looking to spoil in defence.
Fax IMO never really hit top gear either, still plenty of room in the tank. Royston just made his play look effortless tonight and Worrincy worked his heart out in spite of massive pressure.
Oh yeah, PS// Nice to see Toa Kohe-Love have his usual excrement bag performance once more, same again next time

So he buckled right in with the trace of a grin On his face. If he worried he hid it. He started to sing as he tackled the thing That couldn’t be done, and he did it!

after watching that no try thing with paterson again i can understand why they would be offised beswick if facing the other way who would expect the ball to come over his head from the kick.

Well done to both teams for providing a great nights entertainment.
Result was about right and the defensive stint from Fax in the 2nd half was outstanding.
I have to say that I thought Duffs had a good game and was the Widnes stand out player, he totally put Webster in to the shadows.
Widnes look to be a young team and all will have benefitted from the game but Fax always look better with Penky on the pitch.
Fax overall had too much pace across the park and played the ball much quicker. Doran is again proving to be a penalty machine for the opposition and Smith and TKL are way past their sell by dates.
Congratulations I believe were in order on the night for TKL as I believe he made his 3rd consecutive appearance, however this was soured by him having to go off with an eyelash injury.
In summary, good game, great entertainment, correct result on the night but both teams will be there or thereabouts at the end of the season.
One last thing, as a neutral with the added luxury of the TV cameras, I would like to give a special mention to Mr. Hicks who had a good game and controlled the game from start to finish.

I guess you are on about the punch in the tackle? but if someone drove their elbow into your throat/face you might be a little peeved too. Sky failed to mention that though even though it was in clear view.
Overall we can be very pleased with the performance. Excellent in defence although we probably lacked a bit in attack. Was very impressed with how much stronger we looked than Widnes. Our players constantly got over the advantage line and in defence constantly knocked the Widnes players back. Some of the hits that we put on were awesome. Take Dave Larder after he threw out the bad pass boy did he make up for it with 3 massive hits. A good start to the season and with a bit of composure would probably have beaten them by more.
As for Beswick having a bad game, just watched the replay and i hope that he has more bad games for us. Maybe while your players were watching Beswick they should have been watching Black. Widnes players on the end of the handoff is becoming a regular thing.Might want to go low next time.

Thought we defended brilliantly but we still have a few gears to go up in attack for later in the season when we "should" be peaking. Discipline was good as well last night. If the ref would have clamped down on the Widnes holding down we would have scored more i feel. How many times in the first half could you hear Hicks warning Widnes in the tackle about getting of the neck or that they need to be quicker of the tackle and then he didnt penalise them?
Great crowd as well which hopefully will start to increase if we keep winning and playing like we are.

Just coming down from cloud nine after last night.
Great team effort, what a tackling stint from our lads and they had to score eventually after all those sets of six in the second half.
Good crowd, must have been around 2900 home fans at least as hard to tell but Widnes had 300 or maybe more, not bad for a Thursday night.
Plus it was on Sky which out us in the national spotlight.
Big well done to the club for putting on a good show as well.
Thing is I came away thinking that whilst we played well in defence we have more to come in attack, plus we gave them the ball too many times which gave them filed position, they played well second half but we coped mostly with it, took a couple of good kicks to get two of their tries.
