In my case it's simple, 'cos I choose to ! If you heathens that still stand arch backed with anger every time you hear the words "rugby" and "union" together don't watch yourselves, you'll end up not supporting certain players in rugby league teams 'cos they've come from RU backgrounds in the past. Let it go... KXP could have merged couldn't they, I can think of several amateur clubs in this district who are stuggling to turn out a side every weekend, some of them with their own facilities too. It's not that I don't have any sympathy with KXP's plight, 'cos on a personal note, i spent a lot of my free time involved on a voluntary basis with the club for a couple of years, but to ask people not to go & have a drink in the bar is beyond belief to me. As I posted last night, I intend watching the game and going straight home afterwards, other people might choose to stay & socialise. I've a fridge full of beer at home anyway if i want a drink, and the beer in the club is nightclub prices and rubbish anyway...

It is obvious that there is bitterness towards the Crocs, and that some think this game should be held elsewhere. Each has there own merits, but to those suggesting that they play at local amateur RL grounds - don't you suppose that they may well be hosting their own clubs' games today?
I don't care where they play the game; I'm going to go watch them anyway whether it be at Ovvy Park, Old Rishy's, or at the Crocs. Don't forget - it's a game of RL, bugger the politics. Leave that to those on high horses.

Its disappointing to read some threads on this forum, indeed I have several times made a promise to myself that I wont any use this forum any more after this thread I'm making the same promise to myself once again!
For circumstances beyond the Club's control we could not play at the Shay this weekend and didnt know until it Thursday evening. . The reasons are explained elsewhere on this forum
To move our game to another pitch required two things; availability and a pitch which satisfied the RFL ground assessments. There was NO amateur RL club which was available AND which satisfied the RFL criteria. .this is a SATURDAY we are talking about after all
The only ground which WAS available AND satisfied the RFL criteria was the Old Crossleyans RU.
Believe you me, I wanted the Under 23's first home game to be at the Shay. . . anywhere else was not our choice, but having said that, the facilities offered by the Old Crossleyans and the welcome we were given was first class.
It's disappointing that every decision we make is second guessed often on this forum by supporters who more often than not do not have the facts to make the statements they do!

Mike - it's a forum and as such you're going to get brain dead posts, opinionated posts and supportive posts. Some people have their own valid and strong opinions regarding Old Crocs but that doesn't mean to say it's a majority on here. Most people probably couldn't give a crap either way.
Whatever you read on here remember, it's just a forum.

As always Mike, a dignified & factual response. You & I both know we discussed this topic at the game briefly and I'm one of the ones who already knew the reasons as to why but still, I appreciate your using the messageboard to give the club's point of view. The key things have been covered, the RFL's minimum operational requirements have to be adhered to as I posted earlier in the discussion, why can't people see these facts ? With the licence announcements just around the corner, wouldn't it be foolish to ignore such matters... Saturday afternoon was also mentioned right at the begiining of the discussion to assist the 'Haven club's travel arrangements, just a couple of facts that get in the way of the century old squabbling between the toffs & the scruffs of RL & RU. I'm sure many other rugby league clubs don't have their senior figures having to defend the clubs' actions on internet forums, oh & by the way, get well soon mate nice to see you looking so chirpy.

dont get carried away and go off on a tangent by turning the hole debate into a RL v RU issue. the issue is that our professional rugby league team took a game of rugby league to a rugby union ground who have openly wronged local amateur rugby league and are anti rugby league.
whilst i personally dont like rugby union, i respect their game and certainly have a respect for how their governing body look after their own and support thier clubs far far more than rugby leagues governing body.
the point being, this rugby union club, brought a vote at a monthly managemnt meeting and pushed through the removal of KXP from the club "with immediate effect" citing the fact that their governng body would not give them grant money to carry out maintaiance at the club (some of which may i add we did free of charge for years as a gesture of good will)
the night after at a rugby union club dinner when the fall out of the previous nights decision starting hitting home with the rugby union members.......................senior rugby union members (committe members not dinosaurs propping up the bar) told other members that "KXP had left the club" and "we dont need rugby league here" and "we are a rugby union club, always have been always will be and dont need rugby league".................i personally received phone calls and text messages from people there asking what the hell was going on and why had we left..................
so, this is not a RU v RL rant..................this is simply an issue that we should not be supporting, and by supporting you are by taking a game to there ground and putting much needed funds over their bar, an anti rugby league club who by their actions have harmed the game of amateur rugby league in the town.............
