| Quote Ohmetoe="Ohmetoe"A complete mud feast in workington. It's a team tester after a 4hr coach trip and if they lose it feels like forever getting back . I will go for a very close fax win a prop Fairbank sliding over from 5 yds . But it could be a very long journey home for everyone . . It all depends on team mentality not quality of players on a nice dry flat pitch . Take some beer in your kit bags lads.'"
4 hour coach ride? Which way are you travelling?

With my car it’s 4 hours on m6 and if I have a drink with my bladder it’s 5 stops for a p1ss I’d say 6 hours.

| I was hoping for more players from huddersfield to be honest anyway as long as the game is on the side i would go with is.
salty
mcomb
barber
arundel
walmsley
keyes
jouffret
gwaze
moore
kavanagh
roberts
tangata
fairbank
murray
calcott
larroyer
wood if fit
Regardless of the conditions i want both walmsley and jouffret in the side this week. I would move keyes from left side of the pitch to the right so that louis can play on the left. And i would swap tangata and kavanagh around and start with gwaze. Finally i would put salty at fullback it is not ideal but i want walmsley in the side and would rather drop martin then any of the other back three even though to be fair to martin he was solid last week but even in the mud we need more firepower.

| Do any of you regular game goers have the stats for fax ‘s discipline record , is it serial offenders?, or a case of all joining in, not wanting to be seen as the odd one out.
Reading the forum it also seems SG either cannot stop it or accepts that players are brain dead, making the same errors time after time.
Again reading the remarks it shouts out if Fax cut out the really stupid ones it would not cost them yardage, tackle stamina , and ultimately points.
One way to cut out needless ones is to levy a fine system on the more careless / needless ones, like: Offside, laying on, backchat.
Not going to blame the ref every time but Fax have gained a reputation for poor man management on the field.

I think the penalty count was quite similar in the Widnes game , it’s more like Grix says in this interview which partially covers I’ll discipline but more handling errors. https://youtu.be/orIWpkB2A60
I have thought about what could be done as regards discipline, it’s hard to tell if we do concede more penalties or if it’s just subjective thinking as opposed to objective thinking, I watch the game as a fan live then more stats based after on the replay that tends to neutralise the emotional side of my opinions of the game.
The penalties and handling errors are across the board so no specific individual although some players tend to do more than others , for example it’s rare that gwaze or Murray concede penalties they appear to be more mechanically drilled in their approach, I get the feeling some players get frustrated more easily than others and thus get emotionally involved whether it be nervous energy of over excitable, I’d say tangata , fairbank and larroyer fall into this category , I think they could probably benefit from being man managed or even see a sports psychologist to in Lehman terms tell them to calm down . Has Simon says it’s difficult to be critical of handling errors in the current conditions but like he said both Keyes and Aston didn’t kick great in the Widnes game , I also think it’s a valid point that they train on a 3/4 g pitch then play on a bog.

| On discipline one observation is this.
The problem is sometimes the same player gets pinged in 2 or 3 consecutive games which leads to a “He’s a bit of a trouble maker” reputation.
I’m sure we can think of a few players past and present who played/play close to the edge.
Then in their pre game prep and reviews being “informed” as above the match day referee notices the indiscretions even more and carries that info into game day.
Phantom from Fev posted the best solution I have heard and this was to get a top official to come in and work with the club, players and coaching staff for a short period of time on disciplinary matters.
Not sure if this could be a currently active referee but could possibly include someone just retired but still up to speed with current rules?
Certainly worth a thought.

It will be a close call.
Suns out at the moment and okay weather until around midnight then some heavy rain to 3 or 4 am.

Yes I’ve noticed it’s not raining there now , it’s sleeting down here . Like you say heavy rain due in the early hours of the morning, don’t know what Workingtons pitch / drainage is like .
