I have always said that if we had lost that game it would have been the end of the club as we know it. The fanbase would have plummeted even more than it already had. Thank god we won it!

thats true things would have been a lot different now if we had lost that game but we didnt and i think that was the turning point for the club yes we had a few bad seasons on the way but we have worked our way back to this point and now we have the chance to build somrthing good for the next franchise.

York won promotion the following season IIRC. Then went back down. They were on something of a resurgence in 2004, think we played them quite a few times and they seemed to have a decent following.

Btw, I've played the last 15-20 minutes of that game a number of times when I've been feeling down (about anything, not just HRLFC) - it's scary to think where we might be now if we'd lost...
