Back to this Edinburgh farce .... watching bits of it on SKY and today's SL Show, I found it quite amusing how much flannel they were giving it, how they reckoned that EVERYONE thought it was wonderful, particularly from an expansion point of view ..... Goebbels would have been proud of such blinkered propaganda. But read the weekend rags and see the likes of K Cunnigham slagging these circus roadshows off. And how local whino and bulls fans chose not to travel, not because of the expense, but "cos it's a load of rubbish".
But stop being negative, Tony, in 3 years time we'll have the jocks entering SL. And even after a further 5 years of constant name changing (aka Fulham London Harlequeens) playing in front of fabrigated crowds of 2,000 they'll STILL say it's a success. LOL. And any bets on Celtic's next name? I suppose it'll have to be Brigend. Or maybe Cardiff? Am I right? I'M NOT WRONG!
Never saw any of it, I wonder if people think 29K on Saturday and 30K on Sunday for 7 games including Saints v Wigan and the two Hull clubs and Leeds being there is a success?
I don't myself, come on thats just under 10K average for the 3 games on Saturday and 7500 on Sunday, with probably a lot of the same fans turning up on both days.
What makes me laugh is the point of Millenium Weekend is to showcase the game in expansion areas yet the clubs who need this the most right now are Celtic Crusaders and London (Harlequins),.
Funny it moved from Cardiff and last year Celtic got their biggest crowd due to SL fans turning up on the Friday night
