Just got back to hotel and while it was great to get to Wembley and win feels a bit anti climatic, especially after watching an exciting challenge cup final. Generally played well in the first half, but felt in the second half that we were playing so as not to lose whereas Batley, with nothing to lose at 12-0 down were playing to win.We seemed unwilling to take any risks, whereas Batley played like I expected Fax to continually spreading the ball wide, and offloading almost at will and as a result making much more ground than Fax..Defended well for long periods, thought O'brien had a really good game, but JWH nothing like as involved against Featherstone. While I was pleased with team selection today, purely on basis of this performance I'd bring Keyes back next week if fully fit and move JWH back to fullback.Frustrating that on a pitch like that Walmsley spent his afternoon driving the ball in without any real impact , without receiving one decent ball with any space to possibly make a break.

@Faxlore, is that all that matters? It does not cover over the obvious cracks and disjointed displays over the past 2 months. Whilst I am thrilled that Fax pulled it off and maybe laid ghosts to rest by beating the 2 teams that hang like a shadow over them, there is still plenty to put right.
My Humble Opinion Only - let the knockers begin.

No it doesn’t cover up the season ( which is still going) but enjoy and rejoice in this victory instead of being constantly negative. People on here would find fault and moan even if we won SL grand final, challenge cup, world club challenge. Miserable bunch to of whining gits who can’t enjoy the positives of our club
I really enjoyed my trip to the new Wembley and 2 brilliant games of rugby to watch as well. The first game was quality, I thought Leigh dominated but Hull Kr just would not go away, Leigh just look so dangerous when they move the ball and I was veryy happy they won and win as they did in golden point. In our game just like the first game I thought we looked the more dangerous and you always thought at some point the Batley defense was going to break but in the same way as Hull Kr they managed to stick in the game and with a lot of desperation play managed to get our nerves going. Our defense though, where has that been all season? If we can carry that on we will not lose many games and I can't remember us defending as well as that for a long time and I thought we deserved the win overall even if its a strange way to win a game with a missed kick. That goal kick seemed to go in slow motion and when the Fax fans at the front didn't react I were sure he had got it. What a glorious win and a cracking game to finish the day, congrats to all the players, coaches and everyone involved. You have all just gone down in history for the club.

With hindsight my earlier post was unduly negative, there have been several games this season where we played some great rugby but lost because of silly mistakes or fragile defence. Some of the defence today was heroic, defending set after set on our line in the second half - and you only needed to see the players faces to realise that on this occasion the only thing that did matter was the result. While difficult to pick a MOM in what was a real team performance think Salty deserves special praise for doing what he does every game, expecially his carries away from our line when we were really under pressure which he continued right to the end.
I think this match should have been played before the main match like last year when we beat Fev. After the excitement of our (Leigh) win we didn’t feel calm enough to spend another 2 hours watching your game. What do you Fax fans think and how many supporters did stay behind to watch your match?
