Your post came across as though you have a problem with Fax-get over it!
I apologise for the assuptions, but I stand by my opinion that warm weather training immediately prior to a Northern English winter schedule isn't a great deal of use.
I have absolutley no problem with Halifax RLFC - it is yet another great traditional club left to rot for 3 years by the RFL and Super League. I do, however have a problem with those Fax fans who have no respect for a club like Barrow who up until the 90's were every bit as big a club as Halifax (and many SL 'big time charlies' for that matter).
Should be a good game on Sunday and hopefully we won't be the cannon fodder a fair few of your fans think we will be.

It worked well last season going abroad, like Dave Larder said in the paper the other week, they'll probably get 8 or 9 training sessions in while they're away, as opposed to 2 if they were over here, also a great chance for the squad to continue to gel.
Looking forward to Sunday, and I hope Barrow do ok this season. just hope things don't go the way they did last time they were in our league and we run up a near cricket score up there. That said, it made walking there worthwhile

Surely the fact that they'll get 8 or 9 sessions in is more due to the fact that they are all together with no other distractions. It's been 12 degrees here in Barrow today. Could they not have done the same think in the UK??
Regarding this seasons matches vs Barrow, believe me, it'll be nothing like last time. On top of an already quality squad we've got Catic, Luisi, Suka, Noilea and Koroi arriving imminently, so our league campaign should end on a better note than last time.

A week spent together warm weather training will give the players so many benefits in my opinion. Not just time spent going through drills, fitness training etc but what about team spirit/bonding? A week spent away will surely help team spirit as the players become closer as not just players - but friends. At any level of sport teams need to have good camaraderie and team spirit if they are to perform.
I'm not gonna make an ass of myself on here today.

I agree with 99% of that but why does it have to be in Spain???? A week together in England would work just the same.

SRC are you not happy that our team have funded their own trip abroad?
They could have bonded together if they had gone away for a week in Cleethorpes, but THEY have funded the trip and its up to them where they go, and to go to Southern Spain has more of a guarantee of better weather than staying in the UK

It could easily have been Southern France, Portugal or wherever, They had a weekend at an RAF base near Belfast the other week. Don't think that was an exotic location.
Probably cheaper to go to one of the Spanish resorts where they'll have use of a pitch, swimming pools, gyms ect than one in the UK (I can't think of any other than centre parks ect which would be pricey) And they know they won't be at the risk of Frozen weather, Sure its been warmer this week but the past month has been cold.
Some of the Players will have lost a weeks pay from their day jobs, and others have given up half term with their children to go. As well as funding the trip from their own wallets.
