Not sure if this is the correct forum or indeed if this can be made sticky. I'm sure the mods will advise me.
I'm currently planning a charity walk from Hull to Widnes. Yes, I know its been done, but so has the london marathon and Everest, but not by me!!!
I'm doing it for 4 charities; The RL Benevolent Fund Mental Health Foundation National Autistic Society Benguema High School in Freetown Sierra Leone for whom the school I work for (Stretford High School) has a partnership to sustain their regeneration after the civil war. The money raised will go towards the refurbishment of classrooms at the school
The target is £4000 - £1000 for each cause.
Along the way Im taking pictures to make a book capturing the spirit of RL communities. This will be sold to support the effort. I hope to capture the essential feel of what a traditional rugby league town is all about.
I'm starting at the Hull v Wigan game on Friday July 29th, finishing at Widnes v Leigh on the 7th August. The route will be; Hull FC to Castleford Tigers, to Leeds Rhinos, to Bradford Bulls, to Halifax, to Oldham, to Salford Reds, to Warrington Wolves, to Widnes Vikings.
If this is made sticky I can update news as I find it. Post on the thread or PM me with any questions, ideas and suggestions.
Thank you Tony Fretwell

Cheers Vikingman! The aim is that the finish line is HT at the Widnes v Leigh game. The vikings have already agreed to help. Great club - will be a great addition to SL next year!

I'd bet you an money that if you're route took you through Leigh, they leythers would walk with you to the Widnes game. They did a walk to Widnes for charity last year.

Want to bump this back up, would be great if it were sticky? Moved the start date to 22nd July. The response from the RL clubs has been totally underwhelming, only Hull FC have bothred to reply with a no. Noone else has even done that! not even the RL Benevolent fund! Underterred Im still doing it, so any donations are very very gratefully recieved.
Thank you.
