Post subject:  Learning To Ride A Bike

And by bike I mean a motorbike. I've never been on anything other than a scooter in Thailand, and really fancy learning how to ride a proper bike but have no idea how to get started - so wondered if there are any bikers on here to give any tips?

Well, I'm not a biker but I'll give you the easy, first tips about getting started. First get or borrow a motorcycle. Then sit on it and put your hands on the handle-bars. Over to the bikers now....

Is it like learning to drive a car, in that you have to have lessons before you can get out on the road properly? As you see lots of single riders out there with "L" plates on.

Bike licence laws have changed a few times, and depends (somewhat, on if/when you'd passed a car licence):

Yes, you are best off getting lessons, they are often group sessions, with an instructor, and different companies will either run them over a series of weekends, or as a compressed (intensive) week.
