anyone who s had theirs out? Ive bored people on here these last 4 years about my medical condition. For the last 3 plus years I was slowly improving , but the last 9 months (and docs dont know why) but my condition has really deteriated (sp) into a life or death situation and its been decided i should have my really enlarged spleen removed to solve quite a few problems and remove the almost guaranteed fatal blood loss i would experience in the not too distant future due to my esophageal varices bursting. how do/did you cope with illness/infections? I will be on anti biotics daily for life.are you. any side effects? diet. i have decided i will look into eating more foods that will help my remaining immune system to ward off infections.any tips? Any other info greatly accepted.
Thanks in advance for any replies.

I used to work with a chap who had his spleen removed. I think serious illnesses could potentially cause problems but overall he was fit as a fiddle, continued to play veterans sport, etc. He did catch Legionnaires disease when abroad and it was touch and go whether he would survive that - but I guess that could be the case for anyone.
