Post subject:  John Lennon to be cloned

According to Canadian dentist, Michael Zuk who owns a rotten Lennon tooth.

Would this be a good idea, and despite being a clone, would the result end up anything remotely like Lennon, other than of course physical appearance?

I'm pretty sure that somewhere in the world steps to clone humans have already been attempted and clearly it's only a matter of time before it can be done - if it isn't already possible.

Apparently there would be nothing illegal about him having this done in Canada as things stand either.

Would you want the life of clone-Lennon? You would have almost no chance of being your own man. It's immoral IMO, at least in this circumstance.

That's an interesting angle.

Would you want the life of a Prince George?

Would you want the life of a slum dweller in Mumbai?

Would his life be any worse than the lives of millions of children who are born and live (and many die) in the most appalling circumstances in underdeveloped nations around the globe?

I don't so much mean it shouldn't be allowed because he will have it worse than everyone else, and obviously it would be wrong to say people in poverty shouldn't be allowed children, but this isn't two parents who want a kid, this is a scientist wanting to create life just for an experiment. The clone will never be able to shake off John Lennon as long as he lives no matter what he does. Although children of celebrities will naturally get media attention, it is generally possible for them to avoid the limelight and live their own lives. There's no way I can see that working for a clone of a celebrity. He's a poor man's John Lennon for as long as he lives.

A clone would be a human that just had his DNA.
Without his brain, memory and mind (whatever that is) to add his influences, background and life experiences into that shell, it wouldn't be John Lennon.
So, even if it were possible, why do it?

Well, he could make a bloody good living as a tribute act, for one thing.

To do something we've never done before?

John Lennon sold billions of records.

His son probably never sold a million records, in spite of having the Lennon name to get his foot in the door of record companies.

His clone will probably end up with a criminal record and a complete hatred of music, what with being bugged about being the clone of John Lennon for all of his life.

DNA didn't create the musical legend of John Lennon. John Lennon the musical legend was created by the combination pf his upbringing, his relationships, the time he was living in, the place he was living in, the practice him and his band put in in Hamburg.

If Lennon had been whisked away soon after he was born and raised in a small farm in Carlisle then the chances of him becoming a musical legend are virtually zero. The same chance his clone would have.
