Whilst some may argue that this will help them get rid of one dictator the reality is that it will lead to a mssive sectarian war between Sunnis and Shia's with the net result the civil war will spread into Lebanon and Iraq.
In Iraq it has just had it's worse month for sectarian attacks ( nearly 1000 killed in a month).
Syria is the main area for anti western jihadis to travel too. It is bizarre that the west is now going to arm people who are on terrorist tours to Syria.
Ultimately it is all about destabalising and marginalising Iran ( and will also affect Hizbollah in Lebanon).
Israel will be rubbing it's hands in glee and the poor people in Syria and Iraq will be sacrificed for the sake of western interests in it's geo- political game.
Maybe the EU judge that it is in the people's of the EU's best interests if Islamic sects get wrapped up fighting each other than attacking Europe? Personally, I think that would be a very valid stance. After all, no one is forcing them to attack each other. If they choose to act in such a self-destructive fashion that's up to them.
