The Independent Police Complaints Commission has expanded its role in the criminal investigation into the so-called Plebgate affair after receiving new information. The inquiry has exposed a complex operation to smear Mitchell with now 10 police officers allegedly involved from four police forces. It has now emerged that three officers in the Midlands are under investigation by their own forces in an operation overseen by the IPCC. One of these is said to be the chairman of the West Mercia Police Federation. Mitchell resignation followed a campaign to oust him by the Police Federation, backed by Labour politicians. The growing scale of the inquiry raises new questions about the extent of the alleged anti-Tory plot. The "Operation Alice" report is expected to go to the Crown Prosecution Service this week. |

Interesting stuff. I await the result with anticipation. Especially given the amount of people on here who 'went to town' on Mitchell and defended the officers to the nth degree. |

You shouldn't need to await anything, all of this could have been sorted within ten minutes the following morning and a quick review of the audio and video from the main security gate of Downing Street. There can only be two reasons why this was not sorted by David Camerons office or his officers... 1. He secretly regretted the appointment just a few days earlier of his chum Thrasher and gave him the rope, let him tie the knot and then kicked the stool out from under him - but it took a little longer than he thought it would and int he meantime other parties got interested. 2. The cctv and audio recording capability at the main security gate of the seat of our government is non-existant or of such poor quality that the best one they have is from a camera without audio located fifty yards away, and its out of focus. Frankly I'm starting to think option 2 is it, and if Al-Qaeda get wind of this then we'll know whats coming next, christ they won't even have to cover their faces... |

The story was also carried on the front page of the Sunday Times. I seem to recall you were one of those who worked yourself into a lather on the original Mitchell thread. You were also banging on about the Osborne train ticket thingy long after both the train company and Downing Street had clarified the situation, and anyone with half a brain had decided it was a complete non story. |

The Video Ref wrote:He has not omitted / inserted anything. Really? Because I've read the story as carried by the online versions of The Independent, The Guardian, and The Telegraph and none of those three publications mention anything whatsoever about the involvement of Labour politicians. Moreover, he fails to mention that the three West Midlands officers have been accused of exploiting media interest in the incident and not any involvement in fabricating evidence. There is not even a hint of any grand conspiracy. In short, the OP is a fairly gross distortion of the facts. |
