Post subject:  Recently single...

After finishing with my ex gf a few months back, I am looking to meet someone new - thing is, I have no idea where to start. Only ever had two long term relationships, first gf I met at college and went out for 4 years and then recent ex was a friend of a friend that introduced us and we went out for 7 years.

Am a bit passed the going out and meeting someone on a night out stage - and to be honest, always thought that wasn't the best way of meeting someone and having a lasting relationship with.

So, now that I'm older ( and possibly wiser ) where the hell do you meet someone that isn't a weirdo, or a pi55head, etc?? Is best to do the friend of a friend thing again, or ask someone out you know thru work, or do the internet dating sites ( but that brings me back to the weirdo point - how do you know?? )??

PS - I know this is the sin bin and will attract some smart ar5e comments, but if you could keep them to a minimum, it would be appreciated ;) :D

Work is usually the place.

Alternatively, you could take up evening classes in something you're interested in. Flower-arranging would probably give you more choice than brick-laying though!

Thats a horribly sexist comment, there are some very nice lady brickies.

It may be a little dispiriting to go out with someone with forearms like Popeye, but still...

If you try and look for love you will never find it. I always say you'll meet someone when you least expect it and when you're not looking or trying. Love will find you, be patient. :)

Rumour had it that an ex-Arsenal fullback that lived round the corner from me ran off with one a few years back!

A good friend of mine lost his wife of many years and remained single for a few years after that and eventually decided to 'get back out there', he did not have much look when out drinking but did end up with a really nice lass he met in Morrisons shopping, she noticed all the ready meals in his trolley I think. After his couple of years with her they split and he went back on the supermarket trawl and ended up with another who he eventually got engaged to and lived with, might be an avenue to look at. I believe one supermarket trialed a 'singles night' a while back, so it must be more than my mate who has picked up a bargain (you might even get a two for one !!!)

Whilst bowling one night with chums, i discovered a sign that offered Speed Date Bowling. Quite an ingenious idea and quite a fun one id guess aswell.
