I see Her Maj was in Cabinet today (first time someone in her position has been in for 230 years). After Cameron's assault on the unemployed, the working poor, the disabled, their carers, the middle classes and all but the mega-rich do you feel he is paving the way for her to take over and for a return to some for of feudalism?

Factually incorrect.

Victoria attended on 20 June 1837.

No need for a return.
Dave is gonna explain to Liz how well his Big Society is going down.

He might even take her out and show her all the new food banks that are flourishing in 2012?

This is the problem with journalists - prone to incompetence.

Nothing more than a publicity stunt that Max Clifford would be proud of, imo. Ooooo look at Cameron, all smiles and Gideon sharing a joke with the Queen when all around them is falling down.

Earlier today I was musing on the feudal, mediaeval nature of royal titles.

Your Majesty.

Your Royal Highness.

I mean, come on, is there really any place in a modern world for such overblown serf-like sycophancy?

No, not at all, possibly "Sir" or "Ma'am" would do but then its a term of address that I might use for anyone, certainly wouldn't be comfortable calling someone "Majesty" or "Highness".

And on a related topic I had to smile last night when I read that Danny Boyle was rumoured to recently have turned down a knighthood because it would destroy his self image of being "normal" and his commonality (if there is such a word) - good for him, if placed in the same position then I'd like to think I'd do the same, its one reason why I don't want Kevin Sinfield to accept any award that a fawning RFL may wish to eventually nominate him for - would destroy his self image straight off :D
