I heard the incoming TUC leader, Frances O'Grady, described on the news as a 'career trade-unionist'.....What the hell is one of those?
I presume its another gravy-train jumper, who encourages everybody to go on strike and lose valuable earnings, while sitting in their office, in their flash suits, still pocketing their obscenely excessive salaries??
And so you aim towards the sky, And you'll rise high today, Fly away, Far away, Far from pain....

Just like career politicians, these people are a disgrace.

I've met plenty of career trade unionists in my time. A remarkable number are Scottish (even here in Oz), and without execption they have been workshy trouble-makers who seem trapped in a 1960s/70s mindset (very Carry On... or Peter Sellars). They are no worse though than 'career politicians' of any colour.

Well, it was a lie.
The TUC website itself (which might know) says: "Frances has been an active trade unionist and campaigner all her working life. She has been employed in a range of jobs from shop work to the voluntary sector."
But of course the 'Olympic legacy' is somehow going to obviate the problems that people are feeling because of the chancellor's continued total incompetence.
Memories of the Mobot will banish any unpleasantness about having to decide whether to pay the gas bill or buy food.
Thoughts of the lovely Jess will make unemployment and the fruitless search for a job seem irrelevant.
The exploits of Bradley and Co will mean that services are not being cut, the NHS is not being sold off to profiteers and people are not being thrown onto the scrap heap of unemployment.
Businesses affected by the Olympics and Paralympics will recover their lost income in, oh, the next week or two at most.
The double dip will do a Tom Daley-like somersault into wild growth.
Youth unemployment will disappear overnight – and everyone will be able to get access to training and further education with the chance for a real future.
Dally spewing Daily Mail twatfuckery – yet again – isn't news, but history. It's a piece that is reminiscent of the religious nuts (my father included) who intone that what we really need is "a revival"; in this context, as though the Olympic Games and Paralympics were some sort of a sporting revival.
They weren't. The status quo remains, with a clueless chancellor and government who, frankly, appear not to give a damn about most of the people they're busy shafting in the process of shafting the economy itself even further while making sure they and their friends get their noses as deep in the troughs as possible.

Yup, time for David to stop the basking in other peoples glory and see if he can make any of his own, personally I doubt it, but go on David, show some Olympian spirit and prove me wrong, in 800 metres terms you are still on the far side of the track while the bell has gone for the last lap, time to dig deep.

I wonder where the Wail's report is of the message sent to the TUC by Seb Coe, thanking the unions for their and their members' help in planning and delivering the Games?

They only work 5 hours a week (3 of which is spent drinking coffee in the staff room) and get 30 weeks holiday (plus training days) per year for £75k a year.
The reason there is likely to be a winter of discontent is because there is a lot of 'discontent' at pay freezes, pension rip offs and changes to terms and conditions for millions (private as well as public sector), while the very top earners are getting money thrown at them (if you accept that Wayne Rooney gets 250k a week (and pays his due tax!!!), he got a £12,500 A WEEK reduction in his tax), especially bankers who have been paid bonuses from OUR bail out money when they failed the country.
This lot are more radical than than Satans Whore ever was and they will not be happy until we are all on poverty wages, private health insurance and have to pay for education.
