Is there a best time of year, and place in Scotland, to see the Northern Lights?? Looking at going up in early-mid October but just wondering what the chances of seeing them are?? |

Saw them once on Skye in September, but it's rare for them to be seen that far south, apparently |

Get as far north as you can and way from major towns and cities. There are a lot of conditions that need to be right for them to be seen this far south and a good 60% of it is down to luck. |

Well we are looking at b&b's in Thurso area, so don't think we could get any further north!! Read a few decent things about seeing them in Inverness, but thought that would be too much of a major area for lighting that wouldn't help in seeing them... |
