Evening, has anyone any experience of taking glow sticks on a plane in large numbers? i'm off this weekend and i've got 300 with me, common sense(yeah, i know) says thats over the liquid threshold for carry on, i'm just wondering if they'd actually pick me up on this, or consider it suspicious. i'll be giving the airline a bell later when i get home from work. |

Good idea to ring the airline. |

Might depend on how many " E's " you are taking with you |

I'm sure it'll be fine, I've seen blokes on the runway aprons waving great big glowsticks right in front of the plane. |

I've taken lots on planes. Put them in my hold luggage. Normal 6" ones and the larger 12" ones. |

Unknown chemicals in completely sealed containers that have an interesting reaction when they chemically mix - sounds like a recipe for extradition to the USA and a life in chokey without remission to me. |

You can take liquids in the cabin as long as they are less than 100ml, and they must go through security in a clear plastic bag. The only issue might be with them being chemicals, but then I'm sure people take other chemicals (medication, toiletries, etc). If I'm just taking cabin baggage and need liquids/pastes (toothpaste, etc), I stick them in a see-through freezer bag ready to chuck in the tray at security. Should be ok, but definitely ring the airline. As a guide, BA's restrictions are here: Quote:Restrictions on the quantities of liquids, gels or pastes are: - they must be held in individual containers not exceeding 100ml - the containers must be carried in a separate, clear-plastic, zip-top or re-sealable bag - the bag must not exceed 20cm x 20cm (8ins x 8ins) in dimensions - the bag must not exceed one litre capacity - the bag must be completely closed - the items must fit comfortably in the bag - the bag must be x-ray screened separately from other hand baggage at airport security points. Personally, anyone wishing to use glow sticks should be barred from travelling, but that's just my opinion. |
