Without turning this into a public sector vs private sector slanging match thread, is this fair? Why should someone up north get paid less than someone down south for doing exactly the same job, ie teachers, nurses etc. just because of their location, isn't that discrimination?

Why should a nurse who lives in Kent get paid more than a nurse who say lives in Leeds? Thats like saying if you stack shelves at Tescos in Kent you get £7 and hour but if you stack shelves at Tescos in Leeds you will get the minimum wage. Just because its more expensive to live down south doesn't mean you should pay someone for doing the same job more (within the same organisation). Essential workers get an allowance for living in London and quite rightly so, but where do you draw the "divide"?

No whinging from me. I worked in London for 10 years.

Its a crap place.
