You don't have to read much deeper than what is specifically said in these three stories to see similarities in core attitudes:

Cardinal O'Brien wrote:Imagine for a moment that the Government had decided to legalise slavery but assured us that ‘no one will be forced to keep a slave’.
“Would such worthless assurances calm our fury? Would they justify dismantling a fundamental human right? Or would they simply amount to weasel words masking a great wrong?”

Disgusting. The sooner bigots like this are denied the oxygen of publicity the better. Horrible little man.

I particularly enjoyed his comment about "the tyranny of tolerance", which perhaps says everything.

But the other examples I provided are hardly pleasant.

And I could have added this, which has been mentioned previously on this forum, albeit in passing.

It's a ridiculous analogy anyway. If gay marriage and slavery were equivalent, not only would no one be forced to keep a slave, no one would be forced to be a slave. Which means that it wouldn't be slavery. Idiot.

No, though hardly surprising either, given Limbaugh and the Saudi government's previous form.

I noticed that Rush's apology was incredibly heartfelt: "I'm sorry. Well, not actually sorry in the traditional sense, but I regret that I've lost advertising revenue."

This is a useful quote that I keep returning to recently, can't think why.

"I like your Christ, I do not like your Christians. Your Christians are so unlike your Christ." - Gandhi

The hypocrisy of "Cardinal" O'Brien is breathtaking. Objecting to this while some of his staff have been abusing boys is just mindblowing and they, not gay marriage are the "thin end of the wedge" towards the "immorality" he believes is coming

Personally, I'm a fan of his (and all religious people's) selective reading of his holy text. Yes, the bible says homosexuality is wrong, but it also says lots of other things that most Christians discount. It's funny how they don't discount the stuff that caters to their prejudices though.

And to think, you could have been attending such an event as father of the bride if you hadn't 'cured' your son of his disgusting perversions.

I went for option 3 which is that gay and lesbians should be treated just like heterosexual couples.
