Post subject:  Meteorite sighting

just posted this on some UFO sites and now seen reports it was a meteorite.

I was driving home with my wife who noticed something in the sky and asked what it was. she had seen a bright light looking left out of the passenger side window. She said it looked like a big firework on fire. She then said it was going over the car in the sky. I looked out the RHS window and saw a bright fire in the sky. It looked like a jet engine on a rocket but it was travelling horizontally and flying straight. It appeared to me to be a jet engine which looked to be on fire. It was approx 2000 feet in the sky heading in a south westerly direction. We watched it for a bout 7 - 8 seconds before it disappeared. It would have travelled between 3 to 5 miles from when my wife first saw it and it disappeared. It made no noise at all.
Have there been any reports of meteors or problems with planes in the area?

I can only say it was big bugger and if it landed somewhere it will have nade a big hole.

Keep us updated, wish I'd seen something like that. Hope it didn't hit anyone.

Thanks for that.

It was amazing i have seen meteors before ( as shooting stars) but this was a completely different league. It seemed so close and bright and lasted so long it was amazing.

Maybe the Americans were trying to do a 'secret operation' with an unmanned drone over UK airspace and the RAF shot it down. 'It was a great big meteor' is a good cover story.

It did indeed land, about the size of melon.
