What's the best way to go about contacting a credit card company that you haven't had a CC with for years, to get your old details from in order to possibly submit a PPI claim? I'm 99% sure I took PPI out on it when I got it, cos I hadn't long started work and to be honest probably didn't know what it was.

Can I ring them up and get them to post out or email me any docs relating to me taking the card out, or do I have to write to them to get it??

TIA

You'd be in a stronger position had you kept your own copies. Nevertheless, they will have a mechanism for dealing with these claims. May be worth checking the FSA and Ombusdsman websites before contacting them.

Yeah I know, but once the balance was paid off and the card closed, I didn't think it was pertinent at the time.

Will give them a ring and see what I can find out...

For a fee of £1 (IIRC) you can demand a Subject Access Request and get copies of the original agreements and all your statements. Take a look at Consumer Action Group's website, they'll have all the info

Act quickly though as one of the ideas put to HMG (apparently discounted) was to suspend consumer rights legislation in order to stimulate demand.
