Client of ours who repairs TVs etc said its not worth repairing any LCD that has gone. But make sure it is the screen as sometimes its just a switch that burns out. |

Comet have now had my tv for 5 weeks after the lcd screen started "solarising" and is knackered, rather than just admit defeat and replace the set they are sourcing a new screen which will probably cost them more in the long run and keep me waiting even longer whilst I wait for the part to turn up. Unless you have any sort of insurance or warranty that covers the tv your probably better of just buying a new tv. |

Thats what I was thinking, However the fault was reported within the 12 month warranty period (however its taking so long to sort the warranty is now over....) so I would assume I'm entitled to a full refund if it can't be repaired, or am I assuming this wrongly? |

They are entitled to repair it, the replacement part need not be a new one either, you'd have to check the details in your warranty as to what kind of refund you can get and when, they may offer you a replacement model. You'll get them trying to repair or replace before you get a refund. |
