Quote:Paper Money Collapse: The Folly of Elastic Money and the Coming Monetary Breakdown is published by John Wiley & Sons. Detlev Schlichter is a writer and Austrian School economist who has spent nearly twenty years working in international finance, including for Merrill Lynch, JP Morgan, and Wester Asset Management. He will be speaking tomorrow at an Adam Smith Institute event on his book.

Classic rule of getting an economics book to sell.

If it's a well reasoned argued piece of research the audience will be fellow academics and PhD students.

If it's a bombastic piece predicting doom you can sell to the mainstream.

I've already read a few books that predict a financial meltdown mate. I really don't agree with going back to a Gold standard either. You can guarantee that the mega rich elites with all the paper money are currently buying as much gold and silver as possible to cover their backs for if and when the meltdown comes (personally I believe we are at the start of it).

Why would we want to revert to a currency that the elites would once again control?

Anyway I recommend these two books to anybody interested -

'Grip Of Death' by Michael Rowbotham

'Debunking Economics' by steve Keen -

Actually I just realised that I've already got the book mentioned in Dally's link, just hadn't had time to read it yet!
