Love her or hate her she was a formidable woman and PM and I doubt anyone else could have done a better job in those times, certainly none of the muppets we've had since. The country was in a p*ss-poor state domestically and globally and declining fast, and whether you agree with them or not she made a lot of hard decisions that needed making. I understand why great swathes of the population despise her (leaving aside it being the trendy thing to do) but she also had many moments as a great PM.
she did take over a country in a poor state, she did do things which made great swathes despise her, she did make a lot of hard decisions that needed making, You could probably say the same about Kim il-Sung aswell.
Terrible person, did terrible things, horrible, selfish, greedy idealogue. But it is sad when anyone dies.
