The comparison he made between crime rates in Hull City Centre and other areas were meaningless and 'cherry picked' to show Hull in the worst possible light.
The first area of Liverpool I picked was L6, which has a higher crime rate than the very condensed Hull City centre area that Dally picked out at the beginning of the thread so Dally, your silly little finger pointing diatribe has been shown to be based on untruths and manipulation of a set of 'facts'.
I haven't lived in Hull since the late 80s when I thought things were pretty bad then. It is true that Hull does have some problems and there are inherrent issues with education & the attitude of some of the populous, however you can pretty much write the exact same story from looking at most cities/large towns in the UK. From an anecdotal POV I feel safe when I'm in Hull, not because I was born there but you get a flavour of it and I don't have to think twice about walking the streets alone at night (I wouldn't go out of my way mind in an area I didn't know)
However there are a fair few parts of the UK that I would never do the same even though I know I can handle myself and not exactly vulnerable looking. There are some seriously dangerous people on the streets especially London, Manchester & Liverpool amongst a few places I'd just avoid even during the day time to be perfectly frank.

As people are fond of saying on here - statistics can show anything you want, which to an extent has been demonstrated above. However, votes from people who know a place are pretty convincing and more powerful.

It rather depends on who the people are and their circumstances. That can tend to skew their opinion. And empty vessels make the most rattle. On Hull however, I think that they are severely disadvantaged educationally. They figure very low down in tables. Back to statistics again.
War does not determine who is right - only who is left.

So, have I got this right? Are you arguing that the good people of Hull are too thick to realise that what they perceive as a s**thole where they reside is, in fact, a latter day Garden of Eden?
