Very strange to not show the box itself anywhere. Very strange indeed. Makes me wonder if they are so far off release that they haven't come up with the design yet, or are just waiting for MS to play their cards before trying to make the PS4 look better.

Overall I thought the whole thing seemed rather rushed, but has potential to improve PSN drastically. It was the usual stage managed, scripted set of geeks/CEOs in suits like you mentioned. The controller has some good ideas, like the share button and I think the social side of things looks promising. The Facebook link (You can add people as friends on the PS through Facebook) and use of real names is a great idea and one I've always wanted on Xbox Live. You add people and then two months down the line realise 'Adder49528sKILLD£ATH!' wasn't your mate Al, but some random guy in Texas. I like the idea of trash talking relatives and friends whilst watching them struggle so much that I might buy a PS4 just to abuse my cousin. The Gaikai integration meaning demos and games bought online can be played instantly is a superb idea as well. My only real concern with it was the Ustream integration, as they were handling the stream of the announcement, and that was simply awful.

On the games side of thing I thought the exclusives were very weak with the exception of Drive Club, but that is perhaps to be expected as they will want to hold back the biggest guns to generate hype closer to release. Drive Club has clearly been developed to compete with Forza, which Gran Turismo never could. That looks a very good game and it'll be very interesting to see how the Forza lot respond to that.

Yesterday wasn't for showing anything, it was just outlining that
A. a new console is coming
B. some of the new features

E3 is when both companies are likely to show everything.

Gran Turismo could never compete with Forza? Really?

The only thing Forza has ever had over GT is the custom liveries on cars - having played them all, GT is the better game. Drive Club looked good graphically but they didn't show anything of note game play wise so for now it could be another one of those terrible racing games where the handling is OTT.

A lot of people trying to read too much into the announcement last night though, they didn't reveal much on purpose and that was always going to be the case, in fact they told a lot more than everyone was expecting. The biggest news last night was Blizzard partnering with Sony.

Now it's wait until June for E3 and what both companies show along with the 3rd party devs.

Went back and finished Halo 4 tonight. Is it just me or is the Campaign quite boring? The first few levels are ok, but it just seemed to get really repetitive in the second half of the game and felt like a chore. The graphics are impressive and the new enemies are interesting (sometimes infuriating on Legendary mode, especially the Knight characters!) but I just didn't seem to connect with the game. Didn't help that I didn't really have a clue what was going on in the story. Seemed like a bit of a convoluted mess.

Looking forward to Bioshock Infinite coming out in a few weeks now. :D

Potentially bad for Microsoft.

Potentially disasterous for Microsoft more like. If they do use the rumoured always-on internet and one machine only games, it'll hand Sony a truly enormous advantage and would make me question their sanity.

The only way they could do it would be by linking the game to the user account, not the machine and by ensuring games become cheaper. For example if they sold all games for £20 after 2 months out and £10 after 6 months as digital downloads, it wouldn't really matter.

But if they do £60 new games (I've read rumours about initial £64.99 RRPs on the next gen games) with no used games possible it would be commercial suicide.

Roddy B wrote:Just to sort of back up what Nothus has been saying. The game is absolutely fantastic. My copy came on Friday but I've only managed to get a couple of days in, it's absolutely brilliant so far and I've barely scratched the surface. Every time I learn something new it adds more fun to it, and I've only got three Familiars so far. As already said, it's what Pokemon would be like if it was on the current gen rather than handheld, it's immense.

Are there plans for sequels? Can see this becoming a fantastic series of games if the standards remain consistent.

I want it, but i'm not allowed a PS3. Part of me thinks the Mrs is right, i don't need a PS3 just for a few exclusive games, the other part wants to put my foot down and just get one

A game is something to enjoy, regardless of looks etc. I've just finished Dead Rising 2 Off The Record, not exactly serious, but fun to play for a good 20 hours :thumb:

It seems EA have launched a broken game. The new Sim City has a metacritc score of 1.7 and Amazon US have pulled it from their site due to customer complaints. There's even an online petition for refunds on all sales
