I'm not surprised, its probably as close to outright racism that an editor thought they could get without being prosecuted - you can only assume what the original drafts must have been like.

Its good however that the Olympics have driven the extreme right wing commentators and politicians out into the open - we know exactly how their minds work now and where they would like us to be in their utopia - we knew they were still there from the last time a Conservative government was in power, they just don't fly their colours very often, they must be feeling brave now.
