I wish someone would ask that on Question Time. Or even PMQ's.

Yes

They were robbed of election victory. Lord Sutch urged all his supporters not to vote for him and then claimed a landslide victory when they didn't :D

I'd have given them a shot at it, they could hardly do worse than this lot.

Not in the budget but the planned removal of buzzards and destruction of their nests has been dropped by DEFRA.

Not bad going, announced on Tuesday, dropped on Wednesday

Having lived through several Tory terms of office I would say when they are finally booted out it is down to some monumental screw ups with people saying "never again" only to forget just how bad they were after a few years. Well Cameron and Co are doing a damn fine job of reminding everyone just why the Tories were booted out with a Labour landslide in 1997.

But "the electorate" is not in a steady state, it's dynamic. People die, new people grow up and become voters. e.g. many of those who could remember the sleeze of the Major/Thatcher years had probably died by the 2010 election and many new voters registered. It's a bit like Rugby League crowds. A club's crowd is not the same people all the time - people stop coming for whatever reason and replacements are required for them.
