| Quote Robbo="Robbo"Ok so my contract with o2 will be up around June, and after 6 years of paying a around £35 quid a month and never being offered anything for loyalty to them I've finally decided to just not renew, stick with my iphone or maybe buy a new one out right and just go sim only.'"
If you want to be offered something for 'loyalty' you have to phone up and threaten to cancel. Strange but true.
Quote Robbo="Robbo"The 2 networks which have caught my eye are Giff Gaff and Three, for around 10-15 quid I can get more minutes than I'll ever use, unlimited texts on gg/3000 on three which is more than enough, and unlimited data. (although on Giff Gaff its apparently not truly unlimited, but no one seems to know what they consider a fair amount of usage....) '"
I used over 700MB last month on Giff Gaff without issue. I suspect you'd have to be hammering it pretty hard for them to notice.
Quote Robbo="Robbo"What are peoples experiences with either of these? I understand Giff Gaff is a more community orientated sort of network and I shouldn't expect much in the way of customer service, but so long as the network coverage is good and my phone works that doesn't really bother me too much.'"
Giff Gaff is an O2 reseller so you'll get the same coverage as you currently do with them. Also, if your phone is locked to the O2 network it will work fine with Giff Gaff. Dunno about their customer service as I've never needed it.

| Anyone tried to replace the front screen on an iPhone 4?
Dropped mine and its got a crack straight across the screen, although it still works perfectly! most shops or online places are charging £65-£80 for a replacement. But you cant get a replacement off ebay for £20-£30 and DIY. Looks complicated to say the least! Anyone tried it themselves? Or am i better off just taking the hit and paying someone else to do it.
Cheers

I've read before that you need (or are supposed to) replace the digitiser or something too. I think it's a shop tbh
But before you do, try a real Apple shop. Just say it broke while in a bag or something. Few friends of mine have done this and the shop just swap it with a brand new phone! this was iPhone 4 though, not the S, which may be a different story..

| Just got an iPhone 4S and having a weird but very annoying problem with my car's built in hands free. For some reason, although the phone is set to sort and display contacts first name, last name, my Sony Ford system is displaying them in reverse. After much googling I'm finding plenty with the same problem but no cure, I've already tried downloading and installing the latest Ford update. Has anyone come across this and have a solution?

| I've been a customer of O2 for around 12 years and a very good service I have received too. However, it only occurred to me quite recently when I received an e-mail about tickets for Twickenham that I am indirectly supporting Rugby Union's English international set up - which I hate and despise.
Based on this, I would be quite happy to move away from an otherwise excellent service if I thought it would make a blind bit of difference.
Should the rugby league community eschew the services of O2, Aviva, Heineken, Guinness et al? Effectively a boycott.
While at the same time should we all be loyally sending our kids to Leeds Met Carnegie, shave exclusively with Gillette products, ship using Stobart and get our Food, Pharmaceuticals, financial services, holidays and Funerals from the Co-operative?

| It's a good point BigRedV, I have always boycotted O2 because of their Unionism. But also because their coverage really is embarassingly poor.

| Was planning on sticking with HTC when my upgrade was due (next month). The One X is like carrying a house brick around, the One S doesn't have a SD slot. Thinking it's gonna have to see what the S3 brings.

| Ready for a new phone and been looking at the Galaxy Note. What are they like.
Had an HTC wildfire before and although never had a problem with it i fancy a change from HTC, and the galaxy range seem to be getting good reviews.

never heard of that company before so just checked their website out.
their phone plans seem like cracking value, do they just work on a rolling contract month-to-month basis?
my contract is up in a couple of months, definitely going to be breaking out of the stone age and getting internet as part of my next one if i decide to go down that route again.
any recommendations for new handsets? i don't exactly keep up to date with the changing world of mobile phone technology, only time i tend to pay attention is when my mates show me their new ones when they have upgraded.
i'm after something fairly decent, but don't really want pay more than £25 per-month.

It's pay as you go. I just buy a £10 'goody bag' every month and get unlimited data and texts with 250 minutes - more than enough for me.
It is SIM only so you have to provide your own phone. If you're happy with your current phone, as I have been for the last few years, that shouldn't be a problem. If you do want a new phone then I'd recommend doing the maths to compare the total cost of an expensive contract with a "free" phone to the cost of buying the phone yourself and paying less each month.

I've never had an issue with O2 anywhere in the North of England, there are a couple of others that take that crown, 3 by a country mile.

| O2's 3g coverage is ok in city centres and their HSDPA is pretty quicker, but get out of any city for example to morpeth where I live and the coverage is appalling. Im thinking of moving across to three who seem to have the best deals on the new smartphones i.e the one x and gs iii

3s coverage is fantastic in my experience. They got a bad reputation early doors and it's stuck, whenever I say I'm on 3, the stock response is "But their coverage is terrible". Their network is the best of the major networks in my experience and I've used O2, Orange and T-Mobile extensively recently due to work. If you are on 3 and can get a signal, you can pretty much get an internet capable signal. The only place in the UK I've found that 3 doesn't work in was a remote hill in Cumbria we camped on once.
Of course there is an element of personal experience that clouds these judgements, for example because O2 doesn't cover my home and is next to useless at work I'm bound to criticise it. When it doesn't work in Warrington or on the outskirts of Manchester you have to wonder. The % coverage stats are very similar for O2 and 3 in the UK now and 3 has a significantly higher ratio of internet capable coverage than O2.

| My contract is due for renewal on my Iphone 3gs, and tbh I'm pretty happy with the phone besides it's battery life so thinking of saving some money and Just going with Giff Gaff, which will more than cater for my needs and save me about 25 quid a month over my contract. I know they are cheap and you get what you pay for kinda thing but I'm not that dependant on my mobile and can't justify another silly contract paying a fortune each month just to have a newer handset with minutes and text's I'll never use. anyone any experience with them?
Also regarding my battery. Has anyone ever changed the battery and put it a newer higher capacity one? do they hold much more charge?
Are the "battery cases" any use?
