Some complete and utter scumbags on here.
I really do despair.
Brainwashed idiots.
How am I brainwashed?
I was born during Winston Churchill's 3rd term as Prime Minister. Churchill and the tory administrations of Eden, MacMillan and Douglas-Home continued to build upon the work started by Clement Atlee to renew infrastructure, the biggest house building programme this country had ever seen, the development of the welfare state and the NHS.
By the time Thatcher came to power, I was married and paying a mortgage, even with interest rates that were upward of 15%. I spent my time on the cobbles while on picket duty. I saw the sell-off of nationally owned assets, sometimes sold off back to those who already owned them. I saw swingeing increases in VAT while North Sea oil revenues paid for tax cuts for the rich. I saw the numbers on benefits increase from 2 miilions to 6 millions, again all paid for through North Sea oil & gas revenues and seen as "a price worth paying". I've seen grown men reduced to tears because they couldn't provide for their families. I saw the gap between rich and poor widen dramatically. I saw schoold fall into disrepair while their sports fields were sold off. I saw patients lined in corridors because there wasn't sufficient space in wards to treat them properly.
Don't even begin to tell ME that I'm brainwashed sunshine
The older I get, the better I was

"British people's wealth" is an empty and misleading expression. It could mean that everyone is better off or it could mean that nearly everyone is starving but a tiny minority of unbelievably wealthy.
The fact is that, under Thatcher (of whom we are speaking), the poor got poorer for the first time in over a century. "One of the better legacies"? Leave it out.

Susannah Roedean? As thick as porcine manure and can barely string together a coherent sentence. The only reason I can think of for her being a presenter is that someone is holding out hopes of getting into her knickers.
